dental xray | Dentist Glenview ILCurrent, up-to-date x-rays are a vital part of our diagnosis and treatment process. X-rays allow our Glenview dentists to detect potential dental problems early and treat them while they are still small and treatable through conservative dentistry. Our patients' health and safety is our top priority at all times. We recommend specific frequencies of x-rays for each individual patient depending on their risk of developing dental disease.

Digital X-Ray Process

Our office uses digital x-rays, which transmit up to 90% lower levels of radiation than traditional x-rays. We also use lead aprons and thyroid collars for our patients' safety. We follow the ALARA principles (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) when recommending new x-rays for patients.

Benefits of Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are not only safer for our patients, but they also offer many benefits to both us and our patients. Digital x-rays can be displayed immediately on the monitor, giving us a tool to educate patients about the state of their teeth and recommended treatment options. They also make transmission to insurance companies or other dental offices much faster and easier than traditional x-ray films.

We understand insurance and the cost of treatment play a major role in the decisions you make regarding dental treatment.  For your convenience we accept most major insurance plans and are in-network providers with multiple PPO insurance carriers, including those listed below:

MetLife
Cigna
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois
Delta Dental Premier

Yes, we do offer a limited warranty on the dental treatment we provide. At Gallery Park Dental we are proud of the dentistry that we provide for you and your family. Our primary focus is on the prevention of dental disease and maintaining optimal oral health for all of our patients. However, should dental problems occur, we not only want to correct the problem as soon as possible but also show you how to prevent those same issues from occurring in the future.  We are confident of the durability of our treatment as prescribed for you. The primary key to the long-term success of your dental treatment is daily brushing and flossing as well as the use of fluoride and any prescribed products.

How to Care for Dental Treatments

The long-term success of any dental treatment depends mostly upon continuing home care of your teeth and gums as well as regular professional examinations, cleanings, necessary x-rays and any necessary fluoride treatment. Failure to have these regular visits with our office voids all warranties.

It's important to feel confident that you're making the right decisions for your smile, and at Gallery Park Dental, we want to help in any way we can. We are happy to provide free consultations before beginning any comprehensive treatment to help patients make the best decision for their individual circumstances.

What to Expect During a Consultation

During a consultation, our Glenview dentists will perform a visual examination and discuss treatment options. We will take the time to educate each patient about the risks and benefits of each different treatment as it applies to them to ensure they are making a decision armed with the necessary knowledge.

Knowledgeable Dental Care in 60026

A consultation also gives patients the opportunity to ask any questions they may have. Feel free to write them down before the appointment and review them with us to make sure all questions have been satisfactorily answered during the consultation. We will also try to anticipate questions that patients may not think to ask and answer them to offer the best service we can.

Once a consultation is completed and a treatment plan is agreed upon, our friendly office staff will assist patients with verifying insurance coverage and estimated out-of-pocket costs to make sure that patients feel confident with all aspects of their treatment.

At Gallery Park Dental we want to do everything possible to help connect our patients with the care they need and deserve. We don't want you to compromise your oral health just because you don't have dental insurance. For this reason, we offer a variety of payment options including CareCredit, payment plans, and an In-House Dental Membership Plan.

In-House Dental Membership Plan in Glenview

With our In-House Dental Membership Plan, you simply pay an annual enrollment fee and you and your family will receive, exams, x-rays, and cleanings for one year. The plan also provides for a reduction on services completed at our office. Please contact our Glenview dental office and speak to one of the members of our financial team for more information.

Conservative Dental Care

Choosing the right dental treatment is an important and sometimes difficult task, but we want to work with our patients to make it as easy as possible. Every mouth is different, and what may work well for one patient would not work as well for another. We will never recommend a treatment option that we don't feel is in the best interest of the patient or advise a patient to undergo unnecessary treatment.

Contact Our 60026 Office

Whether you choose to have treatment at Gallery Park Dental or with another dentist, we will give you our recommendations on the best treatment options available to you, as well as explaining the relative benefits and risks of each option. We are happy to answer questions and provide estimates for different treatments in order to help each patient make an informed and confident choice.

Our office places a high priority on cavity prevention. Routine check-ups at least once every six months, updated x-rays to detect problems early, and professional cleanings with a dental hygienist are the best tools we can offer for prevention and early detection. We also recommend fluoride treatments for children and adults that are susceptible to tooth decay.

The Frequency of Dental Exams

We may advise patients who are particularly susceptible to decay or tartar to get more frequent exams and cleanings in an effort to catch problems early. Every mouth is different, and we customize prevention and treatment plans to match each patient's needs and circumstances.

Importance of Preventive Dentistry

In addition to preventive dentistry, we work with patients to ensure home oral care routines and diets are optimized to help prevent decay and tartar build-up. We will demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques for patients during cleanings and are always happy to answer any questions about decay-causing foods to avoid and how to keep your mouth healthy and happy.

woman smiling while sitting in dental chair | Dentist Glenview ILTypically, we recommend a professional dental cleaning and exam every 6 months. However, patients with periodontal disease or other complicating factors may be scheduled more frequently for cleanings. Regular dental exams and cleanings also allow Dr. Rogers, Dr. Gripentrog and the rest of our team to identify and treat issues early when they are less costly to fix.

Importance of Regular Dental Cleanings

Regular cleanings are not just a good idea but they are essential for a lifetime of good dental health. Being conscientious about regular dental appointments for cleanings can make the difference between healthy teeth and gums or dental problems that seem to last forever.

Your First Dental Visit in Glenview

During your first visit, we will conduct a thorough oral examination, including digital x-rays (if necessary), charting of all existing dental work, a periodontal screening for active gum disease, orthodontic evaluation, screening for TMJ disorders and oral cancer. We utilize intra-oral cameras during the evaluation to show patients their specific dental conditions and help explain recommended treatment options. We then create and present a patient-specific, comprehensive treatment plan for all known oral health issues.  It may or may not be possible to do a dental cleaning since we need to know more about the current condition of your oral health. However, we know you’re busy, so we’ll do our best to get your cleaning done during the first visit.

The AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) recommends a child see a dentist by the time their first tooth erupts but no later than age one. It is very important to establish a dental home as early as possible so we can increase our chances of helping your child enjoy a lifetime of happy, healthy smiles.

While we love to hear that our patients are following recommended home care practices, brushing and flossing just aren't enough. Regular professional cleanings allow us to reach the areas of the mouth that just aren't accessible to a toothbrush or dental floss. Professional cleanings also help control the build-up of tarter, something that brushing at home can't do.

Routine Dental Exams in 60026

Visiting Gallery Park Dental for routine dental exams and cleanings are also an important step in maintaining oral health. Periodic exams at least once every six months (or more frequently depending on individual patient needs) allow us to carefully examine a patient's teeth and gums. These regular examinations are vital for early detection and prevention of gum disease, as well as providing an opportunity to catch issues like cavities early and treat them as conservatively as possible.

Transparent Dentistry

We view achieving optimal oral health as a team effort. We do our part by keeping patients informed and educated about how to care for their teeth and gums, by keeping teeth clean and free of tartar and decay, and by creating customized treatment plans that practice conservative dentistry whenever possible. Making and keeping appointments for routine preventive care such as exams and cleanings is an important part of helping us do our part.

When you have a tooth that is damaged or missing, you need a reliable tooth restoration solution. We are pleased to offer dental crowns and bridges at our Glenview, IL practice.

Dental Crowns in Glenview

Dental crowns are frequently used to strengthen a molar in the back of the mouth that might be compromised because of a large filling. When large fillings get older, the tooth structure that remains is subject to fracture. Amalgam, or metal, fillings in particular make teeth prone to weakening after a number of years. Because so much of the tooth structure has already been drilled away to make room for the original filling, there isn’t enough left to replace the filling. A dental crown is usually the best option.

Missing Tooth Replacement

If you have a missing tooth, it’s essential to fill in the space left behind. When you don’t, you risk the health of your remaining teeth because they can start to shift in order to fill in the gap. This throws off your bite, which can make chewing a challenge and lead to a host of other problems.

Dental Bridge

A dental bridge literally bridges the gap between two teeth. It is a prosthetic tooth that attaches to the teeth at either side of the space in your mouth, keeping your other teeth from moving. Chewing becomes natural again, and you won’t have to be self-conscious about a gap in your smile.

Pediatric Dentistry

The AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) recommends a child see a dentist by the time their first tooth erupts but no later than age one. It is very important to establish a dental home as early as possible so we can increase our chances of helping your child enjoy a lifetime of happy, healthy smiles.

Your Child's First Visit in 60026

The first couple of visits will help acclimate your child to the dental office and the new surroundings. The main purpose for these visits is to help them feel completely safe and comfortable in the dental office while identifying any early issues and providing hygiene and nutrition counseling for parents.

Gentle Dentistry for Kids

Both of our doctors really enjoy working with kids of all ages. We will take things nice and slow, introducing your child to all the sights and sounds of the dental office.  It is understandable that you may feel a little overwhelmed about your child's first visit. You can take comfort in knowing that our team is experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to treating your child with the friendly care and attention they deserve. Once we know your child is familiar and comfortable with our office, we will start to perform any necessary treatments like exams and cleanings.

We would love to help start your child off on the right foot when it comes to their dental care. Please contact our Glenview dental office today to schedule your child's first visit!

Periodontal Therapy

Bleeding during flossing and brushing can happen for several different reasons. It's important to identify what is causing the bleeding to determine how severe the issue is. A couple of reasons why you may bleed when brushing and flossing is if you are using too much pressure or force when brushing or if the bristles of your toothbrush are too firm.  Changing your toothbrush or improving your technique may be enough to solve this issue. Our hygiene team will be more than happy to discuss proper oral hygiene or recommend a brush that works best for you.

Periodontal Disease

Another, more concerning, reason why gums may bleed could be due to periodontal disease, a chronic infection that can do serious, irreversible damage to your gum tissue and the bone beneath. According to the CDC, approximately 50% of American adults have periodontal disease, so you're not alone. With early detection and diagnosis, prompt treatment will help to resolve it. If the disease is more advanced, treatment will help to halt the progression of the disease and then we can discuss options to repair the damage.
